is putting people first:

Protecting your tax dollars, spending carefully so we have adequate reserves in case of a fiscal crisis

Keeping us safe, making sure the necessary funds are there for our fire and police

Guiding our growth, balancing demands for economic return with concerns for open space, preservation and quality of life

Engaging our citizens, listening and talking to neighbors throughout Fullerton, and getting people involved

Energizing business, creating opportunities for partnerships with our colleges, and jobs for our young people

Developing transportation options, making sure we can move around our city with less nonrenewable energy

Rethinking housing, so our teachers, medical workers, firefighters, police officers, and seniors can live in Fullerton

  1. facilitated collaboration between St. Jude Medical Center and the City of Fullerton in planning a neighborhood health clinic at Richman Park to provide for medical and dental needs of low-income and uninsured residents of an underserved segment of the community

  2. promoted Fullerton’s branding as the “Education Community,” with signage designating it as such  on main entry arteries

  3. as mayor, has met with more Fullerton constituents than any of her predecessors during Mayor's Office Hours

  4. initiated a General Plan Advisory Group, with citizen members appointed by Councilmembers, enabling public participation for the first time in drafting Fullerton’s vision and outline for its future

  1. Among the "Firsts" from Sharon Quirk’s first Council term:

  2. initiated Fullerton Arts Committee, whose citywide survey determined the significant economic impact of the arts on Fullerton's economy (above, pictured with Sharon at public announcement of arts survey findings: Susan Petrella, Fullerton Arts Committee chair)

  3. to encourage communication between Council leadership and the public, Sharon initiated monthly "Walk & Talks"—an opportunity for the mayor and city residents to meet, talk and walk together through different city neighborhoods
